On the road again....

One of our last "flings" is a 3 week trip to "the Maritimes" - the east coast of Canada.  We'll be going to the provinces of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick, with a detour at the beginning to Lake Placid and Boston, and a return trip via Quebec and Montreal.

In some ways the timing isn't great, as we left Mum and her friend still in Ottawa, and we have lots to do to wind down our time in Canada. Mostly this involves selling our worldly goods, although I am pleased to say that we have sold all of the biggest things* - the car, the piano and John's bike. The rest will be a bonus if we can sell, otherwise it will be numerous trips to the thrift stores.

* the car has been sold to a lovely family just out of Ottawa who are more than happy to wait for our return before taking delivery of the car, and the piano to the young female muso who works at the local music school where the kids learn, so we are really thrilled that we have managed to find buyers with integrity and honesty for all of the above things.

So, enough of all that logistic stuff, here is a snap shot of Day 1 of the Big Maritimes Road trip:

In our street, ready to go

Lake Placid (town), eating Ben & Jerry's

Only John & Silas managed to finish their ENORMOUS single scoop

We stayed in a good camp ground which seemed to be full of Canadians from Quebec.

The Adirondaks are just as beautiful as we had heard, and to see them in Spring when everything is so green and fresh was lovely.  We were only a few hours away from Ottawa but it feels like much more than that.

The van is good too, it's fun to be camping again, so let's hope we get through 3 weeks with our sense of humour intact!
